As a member of the WGHP FOX8 Television Sports Internship Program, students will shadow and get hands-on work experience with the FOX8 Sports department. The sports intern will learn about organizing, creating and producing several daily TV sportscasts and sports TV specials. The sports intern will take an active role in the day to day operations inside the sports department. 

The FOX8 Sports Internship Program will be a comprehensive experience for the college student. After spending time in our sports department, the students will have a better understanding of our business and the industry.

The sports intern will assist the FOX8 sports department by:

1. They will observe the sports anchor in their daily preparations while preparing for a TV sportscast. 
2. They will learn how to create a story rundown for a daily sportscast. 
3. They will learn how to write sports scripts for the sportscast. 
4. They will learn how to video edit sports highlights that will be used in daily sportscasts. 
5. They will learn how to record, monitor and log high school, college and professional sporting events which will later be video edited for daily sportscasts. 
6. They may have the opportunity to assist with story assignments outside of our building. This would include riding in a FOX8 vehicle with a sports reporter or sports videographer to a sporting event or a sports story in the FOX8 community. The intern will observe and assist in gathering interviews and videos for a sports story that would be used during a sportscast on FOX8.
