 WCNC-TV in Charlotte is looking for a multi-media journalist to help us evolve the VERIFY brand into a hyper-local franchise. VERIFY is a news brand dedicated to stopping the spread of misinformation and answering our audience’s questions about what’s true and false. This person will need to be able to shoot, write, and edit their own material. The ideal candidate would have strong data journalism skills and research experience. Great opportunity for someone who has investigative background. Must be able to edit multi-layered pieces. If you love to do fact-checking, then this role is for you.

Responsibilities:

• Identify and pitch daily and long-term story ideas that fit the VERIFY brand and format
• Anchor, write, shoot and edit for on-air broadcasting, digital posting and social sharing
• Interview subjects and research for facts and credibility
• Anchor live stream coverage for major news events like debates, speeches, etc.
• Collaborate with rest of team to optimize and distribute VERIFY content across platforms
• Be a team player, comfortable with the daily pressures of creating content for multiple platforms
• Perform other tasks as required

• Impeccable news judgement and journalistic integrity
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or equivalent experience in the field 
• 3-5 years on-air experience; fact-checking a plus
• Strong writing and video production skills
• Strong on-air presence and delivery skills
• Social media skills, experience creating content for Snapchat, FB, YT, IG, Tiktok a plus
• Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Ability to manage multiple projects at once
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus
• Ability to work outside of normal business hours
