WRAL News has an exciting opening for a position that hasn’t been open in decades. Due to an internal promotion, we are seeking a 5 On Your Side Consumer Investigative Reporter to join and help lead our team, which includes a dedicated producer and photographer. A journalist with a passion for breaking consumer news, digging into viewer tips, revealing new trends and pitfalls, and helping people stay safe and save money will succeed in this role.
Creative storytelling, strong writing skills and a collaborative spirit are all necessary strengths for this position, along with animated, compelling on-air presence and a proclivity for active live shots. We’re looking for an energetic reporter who wants to dive into enterprise consumer stories, hold companies and government entities accountable and make connections with the community, while always maintaining a focus on multi-platform content.
Qualifications for the position include a college degree and at least five years of on-air reporting experience, with at least three years of consumer reporting. Familiarity with local, state and federal laws relating to consumer issues, liability and investigative reporting is key, and stand-out candidates will have a sharp eye for legal pitfalls and experience working with attorneys on stories.
This position will be part of WRAL’s enterprise team and report to the enterprise executive producer. Qualified candidates should submit an application, including updated resume, reel and references.
