Come forecast the weather in Myrtle Beach! WBTW, the dominant local news outlet in the Eastern Carolinas, is looking for a WEEKEND EVENING METEOROLOGIST who’s passionate about forecasting tropical systems and tracking severe weather. 

The ideal candidate will be able to translate complex science into an easy-to-understand story of how our viewers will be impacted by the weather. We love unique personalities who want to invest the time to connect with our community.  

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING 

  • Prepare and present compelling forecasts on TV  
  • Track severe weather, sometimes with little notice  
  • Write weather stories for digital platforms 
  • Engage with viewers on social media platforms 
  • Attend community events

WHAT YOU NEED TO QUALIFY 

  • You should have a degree in meteorology or be on track to graduate soon.  
  • Superior on-air presence  
  • Ability to ad-lib with little information for extended amounts of time. For example, you might cover a tornado warning solo for 45 minutes.
