We believe anchors should be some of the strongest storytellers in the building, this role is anchoring and reporting Monday-Friday.

We are looking for someone who is a leader and wants to take ownership of their show. This is not just a sit-down and read role. Someone who can create unique, shareable, and compelling stories for all platforms.

Candidates should have examples of strong anchoring, breaking news reporting, and creative storytelling. We need someone who is connected to the news and still loves to dig for enterprise stories.

Candidates should also have strong news judgment and be a team player willing to do whatever it takes to help make sure the newscasts are strong and compelling along with going into the community and connecting with viewers in person.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver on-air news events in an engaging, exciting, and informative manner.
  • Ability to handle breaking news situations from the anchor desk and live from the field
  • Interview news subjects and research for facts and credibility.
  • Contribute a digital article for every broadcast story.
  • Strong social media skills, including an active presence on Twitter and Facebook, Instagram, daily
  • Community and/or talent appearances, outside of normal shift
  • Organizational skills and the ability to work under constant time pressure deadlines
  • Knowledge of non-linear editing systems and ability to edit your own packages, preferred
  • Work with producers to create an engaging newscast, write and copy edit to improve all content every day.
  • Find enterprise stories and tell them in a way that brings topics and characters to life.

Requirements:

  • Journalism or Mass Communication degree preferred with five years experience as an anchor/reporter in a medium to large market.
  • Strong on-camera delivery with the ability to ad-lib.
  • Excellent writing, packaging, and live skills.
  • Must be able to report in a broad range of styles with good on-air presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong social media presence.
  • Shooting and editing skills a plus
  • Travel: Rarely: less than 10%
  • Work Environment Set: Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment
  • Physical Demands Set: Light work: Involves sitting most of the time, walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc.
