WFMY-TV, the CBS affiliate in Greensboro, NC, has an exciting opportunity for a creative, engaging, enterprising evening Anchor to join our team. The evening Anchor will investigate, write, edit and meet deadlines turning a variety of news stories into a cohesive show. The evening Anchor is a newsroom leader who will be one of the faces of the station in charge of developing contacts and relationships in the community enabling them to create a present unique, compelling and innovative stories of interest to the community.
Responsibilities
Follow current events, research news and present stories, including editorial comment, to audiences on multiple platforms
Collaborate with News Team to choose stories to broadcast
Pitch ideas to help Producers develop the program
Organize and prioritize news to be presented, write and revise scripts to be delivered on air; ensure that late breaking news is added to newscasts
Make appearances before social and civic groups, schools and colleges on behalf of the station
Conducts on air interviews / panel discussions
Performs other duties as assigned to drive the vision, fulfill the mission and abide by the values of this organization

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field
5-8 years of anchor / reporting experience
A portfolio with examples of strong breaking news reporting
Strong social media skills and an active online presence
Understanding of the tenants of professional journalism
