WLOS/WMYA is looking for creative and dedicated full-time Photojournalists to join our NPPA Medium Market Station of the Year team. We are shooting with Sony full High-definition (HD) on SXS media cards and editing AVID on desktops and laptops.

We have openings for:

News/Sports Photojournalist: we are looking for a strong visual storyteller who also shoots great highlights. Western North Carolina is home to several small and mid-major colleges and an abundance of alternative and outdoor sports. The regular shift will be shooting and editing news three days per week and sports on weekends.

Weekend Morning Photojournalist: the ideal candidate will be paired with our weekend morning reporter and produce creative, compelling live shots for our Saturday and Sunday morning newscasts, and shoot and edit general assignment news stories on three weekdays.

Both candidates should have two years of ENG experience in a competitive, daily deadline television operation. You will be responsible for covering day to day general, in-depth features and investigative assignments. You should have strong editing skills on non-linear edit systems (AVID preferred), possess excellent people skills, a strong work ethic, and a great attitude. A passion for storytelling is absolutely essential in both positions.

Requirements:
  • A strong team-player who can produce strong stories under tight deadlines.
  • Must have valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and be able to operate ENG news vehicles
  • At least one year of shooting experience and technical knowledge of video editing and photo equipment
  • The ability to edit and shoot general assignment stories, live shots, and natural sound packages
  • Must be able to lift and carry between 25 and 50 pounds on a regular basis
