CBS 17 is looking to hire an Assistant Chief Engineer. The right candidate will have skills in a broad set of engineering and information technology disciplines including, but not limited to:

• Transmitter Operation and Repair
• Networking and Computer Systems
• High and Low voltage systems
• RF Systems
• Electronics
• Electronic News Gathering (Microwave, Satellite, and Bonded Cellular)
• Automation

The right candidate will assist the Chief Engineer in daily operations, project and team management, design and installation of systems, documentation, and be designated as the Chief Operator of the station when the Chief Engineer is not available. A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, or related field is required. Five years minimum experience in the broadcasting industry is required. This is not an entry level position. Management experience is preferred. Proficiency in drawing software (Visio, CAD, etc.) is desired. Transmitter/RF maintenance experience is desired. Not required but highly desirable is the ability to code. A valid driver’s license is required. Some minor travel may be involved. This position will be on-call for overnights and weekends on rotation. Fluency in English is required.

The Assistant Chief Engineer must be able to stand, sit, reach, climb, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work in close proximity to others, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. The Assistant Chief Engineer must be able to lift, set up and operate equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, and be able to handle, control or feel objects, tools or controls. Repetitive movements are required.
