|Description||The Community Relations Coordinator reports to the Director of Community Empowerment and assists with projects related to partnerships with companies, governmental and non-profit organizations and the station, as well as community events. The Community Empowerment Coordinator assists in building new community partnerships and helps maintain existing ones. This is achieved by actively engaging potential community partners through various means of communication particularly via email or telephone.
•Regular and timely attendance, for 4 hours a day between 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with occasional weekends
•Research companies and organizations for possible partnerships
•Assist with the planning and marketing of community events
•Work closely with promotions, sales and news to execute community events
•Help create agreements with community organizations
•Assist with TV talent to actively engage in community events
•Organize, coordinate and monitor community involvement in programs/events
•Assist with station corporate initiative and events
•Create event recaps
•Schedule, manage and maintain television PSAs
•Creation and filing of the quarterly FCC Reports for television
•Manage station tour requests
•Assist with talent requests
•Professional demeanor required at all times
•Adapts to different situations, and assist others as needed
•Maintains positive working relationships with co-workers
•Ability to work well with various personalities
•Ability to work well under stressful circumstances and able to meet tight deadlines
•Follows instructions as well as take steps necessary to prevent mistakes
•Performs other tasks as directed, following well-defined procedures
•Assist in the taping of On-Air Content: News Magazine, PSA’s, etc.
Required Skills & Experience
•Knowledge of formatting, proofreading, basic arithmetic and filing
•Working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook software packages
•Requires good typing skills (50 wpm)
•Community planning, engagement and outreach
•Organized, detail-oriented and self-motivated
•Effective written and verbal communication skills
•The ability to work in a team setting
•Must have time management and organizational skills to meet deadlines
•Great Communication and teamwork skills
•Great people skills, enthusiastic and a true passion for helping the community
•Knowledge of INews is a plus
•Performs additional duties, as assigned by Community Empowerment Director and/or General Manager
•Must have valid Driver’s License with good driving record.
•Fluent in Spanish (read and write)
•Must be willing to work from office in Raleigh, NC
•Employment/education will be verified
•Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
Physical Requirements (optional)
•Ability to stand, walk, bend, type, and sit for up to (8) hours
•While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
