CBS 17, the CBS Affiliate in Raleigh NC, is looking for a Digital Producer and Content Editor to gather and publish news content in a highly competitive market. The position demands a smart, motivated candidate with keen writing and graphic skills, a commitment to AP style, video editing ability, and a passion for breaking news. The job requires synthesizing information from television scripts, social media and video into a compelling presentation on the web. Urgency and accuracy are priorities. The candidate must have a passion for social media and a deep understanding of how news is consumed in evolving platforms. CBS 17 is looking for a team player who can juggle multiple assignments. This position will have an emphasis on creating video and graphics for CBS 17's social media pages and for CBS17.com. The candidate will also field phone calls and help insert/update entries into the CBS 17 assignment planner. The candidate will be expected to call and confirm information. Other responsibilities will include assigning field crews and tuning in livestreams. CBS17.com is growing rapidly, and this position will join a motivated web team and a station with a strong commitment to its digital operations. Candidates must be flexible with their schedule. Required skills/knowledge: ENPS, Adobe Photoshop, non-linear editing software, Microsoft Word, and a basic knowledge of HTML. Ability to type quickly. Experience working with WordPress is a plus. |
Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience

Fluency in English

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

Minimum three years’ experience in news operations

Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment

Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Flexibility to work any shift

Requirements:
Proven ability to gather and coordinate news content for a multi-platform operation. Requires strong multi-tasking, enterprise reporting and breaking news skills. Work with reporters, producers, and news staff to deliver on the station brand mission everyday. Daily meetings with news managers, web and broadcast producers to determine coverage and coordinate story distribution. Monitor scanners and assist with beat checks to be aware of breaking news, and adjust coverage plans appropriately. Assist in short term and long term story planning. Assist with video intake, coordinating with Digital Assets Manger to meet coverage goals. Prioritize video intake for web and broadcast. |
