Senior Accountant – TV & WRAL Digital
Location: Raleigh
Capitol Broadcasting is looking for a full-time Senior Accountant for their television and digital divisions. The individual must be a team-oriented, self-starter who can handle multiple accounting functions including accounts receivable, recording monthly journal entries, preparing month end account reconciliations as well as calculate monthly commissions and other monthly close tasks.

We are looking for someone who is detail oriented, very organized and has strong interpersonal skills to communicate professionally with customers and account executives. A bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required with 3-5 years of work experience. Previous experience with Oracle Accounting, Wide Orbit Traffic, Excel and handling accounting transactions for multiple divisions is preferable.
Basic Duties:
- Independently prepare and calculate Digital Solutions and WILM Commission on a monthly basis. Obtain approvals from GM and communicate commission amounts to HR and business unit accounting managers for payment.
- Independently review and process payroll for WRAZ and WRAL Digital Solutions on a bi-weekly basis. Prepare monthly journal entries and payroll accruals. Will be responsible for reviewing timecard entries and payroll adjustments prior to payroll processing.
- Review WRAL Digital Solutions Accounts Receivable aging monthly, follow up with Account Executives regarding client late payment. Provide management with DSO and AR aging and write off analysis.
- Fixed Assets - prepare additions, maintain comparative analysis to capital budgets
- Create credit card payment links for WRAL Digital Solutions clients as needed.
- Prepare journal entries for 401 K/Safe Harbor on a monthly basis.
- Balance Payroll deduction report to insurance
- Prepare and approve monthly intercompany transactions revenue and expense items
- Independently prepare retransmission revenue spreadsheet for WRAL, WRAZ, WILM including number of subscribers and rates. Record appropriate journal entries.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts- Cash, Accounts Receivable, Suspense
- Prepare monthly barter journal entries
- Create and maintain excel models for department analysis
- Regularly offer to help senior accounting team members complete their responsibilities, to both help the team and further develop your personal skill and experience level
- Adopt a continuous improvement mindset to identify and implement opportunities to streamline or improve accounting processes
- Work on Special projects with Business Manager as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business from a four-year college or university
- Minimum 3-5 years accounting experience
- Experience with accounting for multiple divisions a plus
- Experience with Oracle or Wide Orbit a plus
- High level of proficiency with Excel & Word required
- Detail oriented and organized with an ability to manage multiple priorities & deadlines
- Should be proactive, positive and results oriented
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and external parties
Preferred Qualifications
- Oracle experience
